She lay on the bed, facing the ceiling, her fingers locked in his. It had been a long night, strange and beautiful. She was lost in the sublimity of the night and tried not reading into his thoughts or her own.
They had met as strangers and played a game, a battle of words. She played it with fervour. He smilingly entertained her. They kept playing, each trying to outwit the other. There were laughs, smiles, teases, silences and messages conveyed through the eyes.
The night was giving away to dawn and the battle was drawing to an end. Occasional words punctuated the silence between them. She was getting tired and he was being captured. She laid down besides him, trying to keep up the fight. His fingers played with her hair that was falling across her face before slowly finding their place between her fingers. When the game ended he was tired, but he had won and she was captured.
She looked back from the ceiling to him. She knew there would be nothing more to the game.He opened his half drowsy eyes and looked into hers. They smiled.
